my seizure life

this is my first post so im just telling my story

i am currently a 20 year old college student with, i think "semi-seizures".

i have had 2 major seizures in my life, i was in third grade for the first one and in 12th grade for the second.

i have semi-seizures probobly on a monthly basis, and it is something ive just gotten used to over time. ive been on medication for this but i dont know if it really does much.

when i have my semi seizures i dont totally get blacked out or whatever, i just cant talk or read or write. its like i just loose the consept of language. also when i have these i get major deja vu.

physically im totally fine when im having these seizures. i dont lose any motor skills or coordination. for example i can keep playing football, but i would know what the coach was saying.

im not complaining in this post, im just telling my story because this is my first post.

if anyone else has seizures like this let me know your story so i can compare and find out how common this really is.

thanks people.

Hi davessports,

Welcome to the forum! What you are describing sounds like a simple partial sz. or maybe an absence (petit mal) sz. I've had this form of sz. for 40 yrs. When I have a simple partial sz. I am totally conscious and I will continue to talk to others and work but I sometimes can't speak and that's because the neurons in the brain are affecting the left side of my brain where a persons speech is. Start keeping track of any possible sz. write them down on a calendar stating what time they happened with a description and you may see a pattern in your sz. as to what time of day/night the sz. happens and you will also see certain days of the month when you have any sz.
My Epileptologist told me the moment I start to feel a simple partial sz. to tighten up all the muscles in my body and make my hands into tight fists for a few seconds by doing this it can stop the sz. if you catch it in time. I've done this many times and stopped the sz.
Cut back on carbs and starch foods, stay away from anything with nutra sweet in it and if you use a cell phone take note if you have any sz. when using the cell phone or if others around you are using cell phones. The frequency for cell phones can sometimes trigger sz. for some people if they are cell phone sensitive and they have proven they shrink and harden a persons hippocampus where it effects short term memory and education.
I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Sue
