First Chiropractor visit ever
 

Got a good-sounding offer for the initial visit: $20 for 6 xrays and exam. Went for that last week and got the follow-up visit today. There are 4 areas they want to work on, and I got my 1st ever chiropractic adjustment ever. The neck was LOUD and surprised me but didn't hurt.

And the cost isn't going to hurt (too bad). $6.18 per visit after Medicare pays. I have my doubts about Medicare paying, but they tell me it does.

Biggest expense will be gas. The office is 40 miles away.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn from the xrays that my hips joints are in great condition. The reason I'm shorter on one leg is because my lower spine is out of kilter. The Chiro makes it clear that his work won't cure that but should keep it from getting worse. He says there always the possibility it might help. (sounds like DMDs)

I'm looking forward to these adjustments!

Does chiropractor visits count as a doctor visit so you can add it in as a medical deduction on taxes? You can count a gas allowance per visit

I have medicare. I see the chiro 2x per month. I never see a bill. Her office is a wiz at how to do the medicare dance. As long as its billed properly. They allow 24 visits per year. if you have extra circumstances they will pay as long as its billed properly. I have been seeing this place 3 years and have yet to get a bill.

The last place I went couldnt figure out medicare to save themselves. They charged me $25 with each visit. I had to see him once a week as his adjustment wouldnt stick.

My chiro uses TENS unit muscle pads and lets my muscles relax before she adjusts me. She has been one of the best parts of my team. Im glad you are going.

Doydie, every year I go to file taxes, I'm told I don't need to. SSD is my only income. Well, my only regular income; there's an occasional casino win! Even with those it's not enough to file. So I get a signed document stating I don't have to file.

No filing = no deductions. Even when I bought my house I didn't qualify for any deductions.

If I remember correctly, the number $2000 is the minimum amount of expense(?) to qualify for deductions. Obviously I'm not good at math or tax laws.

I don't mean to be pushy or anything but I can't read this and not say anything.

A year and a half ago I suffered from bilateral dissection of my arteries in my neck which meant my arteries were torn and bleeding out. I was treated to prevent a stroke until the arteries healed which they did. When researching what could have caused this to happen the number one reason was having your neck treated by a chiropractor. Second reason resting your neck against the sink at the hair dressors. My reason was unknown and just happened to happen.

Maybe it's my imagination, but I just came in from walking on my sidewalk barefoot. My legs were moving in the same gait and I didn't notice a limp. I only just had the 3rd treatment (adjustment?) today. Could I really be feeling improvement already? I know if I asked the Chiro that question he'd say, "Of course!"

And Dejibo ~ I asked about that 24 visits a year thing you mentioned. Was told it's 24 visits a year per incident. The Chiro said that if I, say, tripped on my dog, that would be another incident and another 24 visits.

I don't think it's your imagination. It's wonderful that you're seeing improvement already. May it keep continuing!

I have been seeing this woman for 4 years now at least 2x per month, and have yet to pay one penny. She said she lists the dx as MS. I dont know the back door workings, but it works.

Im glad you found one. it makes a world of difference for me. Yes, you can tear an artery on the hair dressers sink, a chiro adjustment turning your head to fast to see something zoom past you...its really rare but OMG how scary! it almost stopped me from seeing a chiro once. I feel so awful without the adjustments I crossed my fingers and went back. "dont happen to me, dont happen to me" was my mantra.

I agree with you. It can happen and it does. It might be rare but the link between neck adjustments and stroke is real. I never had my neck manipulated and I never put my neck against the sink at the hair dressers.

Chiropractors and doctors know how to manipulate the system so that you get those visits paid for by Medicare.

I love my Chiropractor! I get adjusted, AND a massage! Bonus! I go every week, and she has assured me that my visits will never cost more than my co-pay, which is $20, but I think it's worth it! That is a dinner out given up, which is fine with me!
