I drove....

Ok, I know it's not rocket science, but after 7 months of not driving, I finally drove again. I can't believe how good it feels!

I was nervous and it is not an automatic process like it used to be for me, I had to "think" about each step. But I did it and it's the first step at getting back some of my independance. Just wanted to share it.

Congratulations on being able to drive again! I know how exciting that must feel. Every step forward feels so rewarding. I hope your recovery continues!!

Congratulations on this significant milestone.

Did you have to retest? In Arizona if you have a serious TBI the doctor is required to notify the MVD, then when they think you have recovered (for me that included a neuro-psych eval, reflex testing, and other OT evaluations) then they release you to retake the exam. So I had to take a behind the wheel driving test like I was 16 again! One of the best days in my recovery!

Took me a while to get used to it too (6 months for me), so I think it is kind of like rocket science... or in my case, maybe the analogy should be like brain surgery!!! :D
