Wildfires, Tropical Storms - How is Everyone?
 

Florida is underwater:Sinking:, Colorado and other states are burning, the NE is melting. :sunchair:

Who is being affected, and how? How are you handling these extremes?

I am on Anna Maria Island, with my house for sale. This is just south of Tampa bay. No beaches left, roads flooded, but my house thank the good Lord is high and dry right now. The other end of the Island all of 7 miles long is not fairing as well. Homes are flooded on the bay side. No beach here will be the same. That is why I put my house on the market not too long ago. Insurances have been cancelled for 90% of us, that includes flooding. I am a sitting duck. I stayed, as there was no evac order. Lost alot of shingles from the roof, many branches down. Electic on and off. Off our north end I can see the sky bridge, it is empty, no cars, still closed. off to the left in St. Petersburg I can see, they did get a tornado about 10 miles away as the crow flies. Nobody got by without some kind of damage. The middle of the state is worse. Sunny today, streets are drying out. I hope this darn house sells! ginnie

Well, Unless this place sells, I will be going nowhere. Citizens insurance has cancelled so many, and will do this again. Even a new owner with good financial back, may not be able to get insurance. I would move inland toward Myakka City. I would love a small cottege or a Katrina house. These are doable if I can sell. Now is clean up, and thats what I am heading out to do. The rest of the island is cleaning up too. Dry now. ginnie

Have been quite concerned about you and the conditions surrounding your area. Really nasty. Glad to hear you are up high and hope your home stays dry.

Hi Gerry, I got outside and picked up a bit this morning before it got too hot. Lots of branches down around the neighborhood. this was mild here compaired to the middle of the state. Nobody expected what happened. It did fill the water table, but caused alot of damage to others. The citizens insurance is going to be getting alot of calls. I will call a roofer in the next day or so and replace what was lost. thanks for caring, ginnie:hug:

We're in the middle of a dry spell here in GA. And no rain is expected in the next 10 days.

We're also expecting record heat. This coming weekend it's forecast to be close to 100 degrees.

I've been watering my new red maple trees at night. They don't seem to be failing but they aren't thriving, either.

I just make sure the outside feral kitties have plenty of fresh water. I go out and dump a big container of ice in their water bowl a couple of times a day. The birds seem to like swimming in it, too! :p

It's been pretty hot and dry in our area as well... Western suburb of Chicago.

We had a day here and there under 90; but with no rain, am concerned about the plants. Watering the ones in pots; but not too good at doing shrubs (standing in front and back dragging hose not in my future. Hubby will go every now and then; but does not realize shrubs need water; especialy the rose bushes. Oh Well.

Seems so trivial when others are having too much of a good thing and it becomes a disaster. With the fires and rain...what a combination. They are in need of a lot of prayers.

Good lord, we are having floods everywhere at the moment .. Even here, in parts, in Britain.

well it is really hot hot here in North Carolina also supposed to be 106 by the end of the weekend. I have been trying to expand my deck so i can put up the enclosure for my hot tub. So my son says we are going to work sat am from 7 am to about 9 am and with 4 or 5 people we should be able to knock it out. Little at a time i guess.Stay safe everyone
