Sex during pcs
I just want to get some information about having sex during pcs.
As any sexual activity increase heart rate and blog pressuer . Should we avoid having sex ? I Have tried it Once and I had a increased pressuer around my head. Is it safe or not? |
If you can tolerate the head aches and other symptoms, there is no reason to prevent you.

For months I found sex could exacerbate symptoms (tinnitus in particular). It's better now, but I still have to be cautious. I would treat it as any other form of exertion during PCS recovery - start at zero (or near-zero) and gradually increase it while avoiding symptom exacerbation. If you're having problems, back off until the symptoms recede, wait as long as necessary, then gradually start to build your way back up.
As always, the goal should be to remain sub-threshold of symptoms as much as possible to promote recovery. One of the hard things about PCS is there is no "I want/should be able to do this, therefore I'll do it." You have to respect the limitations imposed by your injured body/brain. |
Can you do that with sex? :D
Cheers! |
Sex is one of the few bright spots in my PCS experience. Everyone will have to gauge things differently, but, like Mark, I see no reason to avoid it.

Avoiding sex has never been a problem for me. Never had it.
Never having had a girfriend for 38 years had something to do with that, though I still came close a few times. I certainly feel bad for those married or in relationships, as well as the fellow single folk. PCS put a stop to any thought of dating for the past two years. Only when the chronic head pain fades away will I consider such a thing. Most of that is gone for me, but there's that nerve pain. Here's hoping we all recover from PCS ASAP. |
Just think of it as any other activity. You said you feel more pressure in you head, so you have to assess by how much of an increase it is, and how quickly do you recover from that stress. Just pace yourself and know your limitations. If you feel just a little worse after and get over it quickly, then it would probably be worth it for your emotional well being if it's important to you.
