Pcs or dysexecutive syndrome
 

I hit my head in a fairly minor way 3 months ago. Had no idea I had done much damage but things kept getting worse. I have memory problems, little ability to multitask some processing problems and my emotions are all over the place. I also get very tired which makes things worse. After a couple of months part time working I returned to work full time only to find this a bit too much and symptoms have got worse. Went back to doctor today for new sick note and he said he thought i had dysexecutive syndrome. I had always presumed I had pcs so this was a bit of a shock. If I do have it it is in a very minor way as I function quite well despite problems. Just wondered what others thought and what they had been told by doctor. Also seen a neuropsychotherapist who offered no diagnosis but kept reiterating it was early days and he was hopeful in a year or so I would see an improvement.

It sounds like your doc is being overly specific. DisExecutive Syndrome can be a subset of PCS but PCS does not always cause DisExecutive Syndrome. Plus, DisExecutive Syndrome can be caused by other things.

I suggest you not worry about this comment. Your doc likely read something recently about DisExecutive Syndrome.

Your neuropsychotherapist sounds more informed. PCS can take time, more time, and even more time. There is no rhyme or reason as to why it can take so long to notice improvements.

btw, DidExecutive Syndrome is a manifestation of an injury or illness that effects the frontal lobe.

Heh, my son's neuropsyche doc ruled out PCS and gave diagnosis of "Cognitive NOS" ..... another catchall term looks like.

Sounds like his neuropsych should have listed "cognitive NOS after brain injury and surgery." Not Otherwise Specified sure is a catch all term. He could just as easily said 'Idiopathic' but that would indicate he did not know.

What is going to happen to people like us with healthcare rationing under Obamacare?

We actually may be better off than most. We will at least have forums like this that provide better information than most doctors anyway.

Is it better to stay away from topics like Obamacare in the forum since I have reasons to believe it can be the best thing for people who don't have insurance and dying and suffering?

No I am not looking for any arguments etc., and just my thoughts.

IMHO yes. I've had threads derailed because of political rants about Obamacare that had nothing to do with the original post.
