PN from trauma - any others here?

Hiya everyone, Im glad I found this board.
I suppose you could say my PN is my own fault - a few years ago I was very depressed and living alone with severe fibromyalgia, and I cut my wrists.
I now have chronic pain from the nerve damage, as well as the fibromyalgia. Clever me.
It is worse at night when I try to lie on my sides - it must put pressure on the nerves.

Id like to ask 3 things:
1. Are there others here with PN caused by trauma?
2. Do supplements work for the pain of this type of PN?
3. What are the main ones that are most often recommended?

I would muchly appreciate any responses. I am a bit desperate, as the PN is effecting my sleep, which makes the pain of fibro extremely bad.
Love to everyone who is going through this. We are all warriors.
xXx

Welcome to NeuroTalk:

D-ribose has shown promise for fibro patients.

more details about this on this link near the end area:

I'd also try Lidoderm patches over your scarred areas on the wrists. They may reduce discomfort that originates there.

Before supplements, I think you should get a B12 test and Vit D
test and get your numerical results and come back here.
It is best to have those initial values before choosing a supplement. These two vitamins are the most commonly low in PNers.

Also magnesium is a good idea. A lotion form like Epsom-It will penetrate that area, and maybe help if circulation is impaired and the blood flow is not adequate. You can also soak your wrists in lukewarm epsom salts baths. 2-3 oz in a a small tub is all you need.

Thank you so much MrsD. Its great to talk to other people with knowledge about PN.
I will def try those remedies - I also seem to be reading a lot about Alpha Lipoic Acid - is that a useful supplement for PN? Maybe Ill give it a go after investigating b12 and vit D.
I have a routine blood test on monday - will ask if can be tested for b12 and vitD while theyre at it.
Hope youre as well as poss and as pain free as poss today. x

The lipoic acid we use is R-lipoic acid stabilized. It is useful in much lower doses, and more absorbable. Doctor's Best makes a good version that is affordable.

If you get an RX for Lidoderms, you'd only need 1/2 patch on that area. This will save you some $$.
