Hey I feel for you!!! I had/have severe nightmares, and night terrors (seeing a thing that wasn't a person). I also had the flashing eye problem!! My night terrors got so bad I had to sleep downstairs because I couldn't go upstairs. I would consider talking to somebody about your fears, worries, and concerns. That's helped with my nightmares and night terrors.

Also, it took a while for me to be ok with the night terror situation. Is there any loved one that might be watching over you? Once I found a way to justify that this thing following me and scaring me was a good thing, that made it easier to calm myself down and tell myself it's ok.

Hope this helped! ❤

bobbicat,

Welcome to NeuroTalk. Sorry to hear of your recent head bang injury.

The floaters may be just normal. A common problem with floaters is that when they are first noticed, the person gets a bit obsessed watching them. This obsessive characteristic is a common symptom of Post Concussion Syndrome. The flashing lights are also not uncommon, especially at night or in the dark. I have then any time I sneeze in the dark. I occasionally will see them at random times.

If they have you anxious, it may be worthwhile to get a doctor to check you out. The risky floaters have a color (pink, brown or red) to them. If you see those colors, get to an ER. They are rare compared to common floaters that look more like threads or hazy spots. These are just floating garbage. I went through this same concern early in my Post Concussion. These are the instruction the ophthalmologist gave me.

Peripheral vision oddities are often a similar cause. Your brain will usually ignore the peripheral image, knowing that it is an aberration. There are lots of peripheral images that are just specks, maybe a eye lash or eye lid skin flake that just catches your brain's attention. Again, the brain's lack of ability to ignore the image and then getting obsessed with these peripheral images make them worse.

I struggle with wild eye brow hairs that catch my attention. I need to keep them trimmed and my eyes clean of skin flakes. Once I see a wild hair, I am stuck until I either trim it or yank it.

bobbicat, Feel free to introduce yourself and tell us about your struggles. There are lots of good people here.

My best to you.

Severe Concussion 13,

Tell us about your night mares/terrors. Many of us have dream problems. I often have stressful dreams. Not terrors but still upsetting. For me, they are usually associated with poor breathing while I sleep.

I had more severe dreams when I was still dealing with PTSD after being assaulted in 1997 and again in 1999. The 1999 assault included a concussion. I was moving my family to Idaho in July 2000 to escape the risks of violence in California.

Either way, they definitely are not pleasant.

My best to you.

For most of my time since my incident I haven't dreamed anything. But, the last few nights have been strange.

The one dream I had was of me and my PCS and I was seeing talking animals and it was clear to ppl around me that I was hallucinating.

Woke up in a sweat.

Next night~I dreamed I had gotten up in the morning and fell because I had lost the ability to walk.

Again woke up in a sweat. Strange.

The dreams after my concussion were one of the worst parts too. I volunteer in the medical field so the were always so vivid and horrible.

Night after night I had to go through nightmares of my family members being hurt, maimed or killed. And waking up sweating and terrified and not really sure if what I saw was dream or reality, it all blurred into one.

I'm only 16, but I couldn't even talk about them to my parents they were so bad.

I'm sorry, I know how awful it is. I really hope it gets better.
