Thoughts about headaches and stress levels! ❤

Hey my times on here might not be often because of our crazy bills and such but here is my next post:

Headaches.

I've found that my headaches are indescribable. I should say one headache because it has been constant since impact (November 8th, 2011). They are always painful and overwhelming. They are nothing close to what I've ever felt prior to my concussion.

On the worst days I can't do anything but go up in a dark, cold, quiet room and try to rest, completely overtaken by pain. On my best days it's still noticeable and interfering.

I'd say the headache has been the ultimate symptom. It's affected by almost everything. Yes, things like my severe light and sound sensitivity affect me too. But they affect my headache, my overall overstimulation, and of course my amount of energy I have left that I'm able to use before I'm completely done.

My headache affects my whole body not just one part of my head. I feel it at the temples, along the sides, to the base of the head and neck, to the base of my neck and shoulders, all the way down my spine.

Then I can also feel my blood pumping hard through my fingertips and wrist, toes, knees, and almost everywhere! I think I might have increased feel of my pulse maybe because of my sensitivity with a high headache.

Stress.

One thing I've thought about is I wonder if the amount of stress your brain/body is under when you get a concussion could affect the severity. Like say 2 people are put in the same situation and everything is the same besides their stress level.

I think it's possible!

Also, I think you're overall stress level affects how quickly you can recover! During the very busy and VERY stressful parts of this year, it was different than now where I'm care free. Obviously the better you get the more I should be able to handle but since I haven't had nearly as much stress and emotion, it's been a lot easier!

I might just be a crazy young lady but it really makes me think!!

Just food for thought! ❤

Brainna,

Stress is a major factor. Your 'crazy bills' are stress.

A good way to try to measure stress is with a blood pressure (BP) kit. They are $20 to $30 at most pharmacies or online. BP rises with stress. Learning to reduce stress and BP will serve you well.

Head aches may also be tied to BP.

There is also a link between neck, especially upper neck injuries and head aches. Resolving neck issues can make a big difference. Some have success with www.NUCCA.org chiros. There are also www.atlasorthogonality.com
Some chiros advertise "upper cervical"

The "twist the head and pop the neck" chiro adjustment is usually to aggressive.

I had head aches almost continually from last October to Late April from a simple bump. I know how frustrating they can be.

My best to you.

I really feel for you on my second ER visit I had BP of 198 over 119. So high I was a stroke risk. I had the same feeling of blood pumping around my body. Hate to say it but thank god for pharma companies because I am probably putting somebodies kid thru IVY league. Every day is not if I get a headache it is only a matter of how bad. Something you will hear over and over is do not overstimulate. TV bad, computer bad...flickering causes eye strain results headache. Stress is another killer. Thats a tough one as only you will be able to get a handle on that one. If you can afford it see a psychiatrist they can really help in that department if they are worth their salt. Might take a while to get in though. Hope you feel better.

I agree. Stress does create a whole lot of problems.

In the waiting room while waiting for the Neurologist a very happy nurse came bursting out with her countdown to Christmas!!!!

First of all Happy people tend to annoy me lately and I didn't even think about how Christmas was going to effect us this year. Stress #1

I share a birthday with my 8yr old daughter in August and I don't think I'll be up for a big family gathering. All that talking! Stress #2

Plus everyday stresses combined with injuries. I also have IBS and because of these added stresses I've been very ill with it.

Take care
