what expect from a gaglion nerve block ?

Hi and any help would be greatly appreciated , little history i have been diagnosed with nero as well as vascular tos , 6 months ago i had a rib resection , but still alot of pain in my scapula , shoulder , neck arm and chest, my arm still turns blue, and was recently dianosed with double crush syndrome as well , now they want me to do these nerve blocks what are they and what do they do i am rather scared , thanks suffering in canada

I think that block is used for diagnosing RSD/CRPS. You may want to search that forum.

i have a vague memory of watching someone with really really bad tmj on youtube talking about this?

i think people with tos get it too

Many more posts about it but the full results of a forum search doesn't link over.
You can find them all using the search link in my siggy.

yeah that does not make sense at all i do not have rsd as i had a bone scan for that i have thoracic outlet nerve and vascular, and 3 surgeons saying double crush syndrome, even after i have had the rib resection my pulse still disapears just by expanding my chest wtf , now with not even being told what is going on they are sending me for this nerve block really starting to bother me .

It sounds like whatever they removed during surgery wasn't the cause of the pulse loss.
Has there been more testing to try to pin point the vascular compression location?
Have they done a Doppler ?? - I think that is one of the tests that can show the blood flow.

rad351 07-26-2012 12:13 AM

yes they did a dopler and even with my arm by my side the machine could not pick up a pulse , it seams to me but the doctor do not even listen but my scapula is winged now and when my scapula moves it cuts my pulse weird or what

Can you look for another vascular surgeon that has higher skills/experience?
I don't know if I would give the same one another shot at fixing things.. :(
Especially if they won't listen to you.

my prob is doctor fry is perhaps the best in his field here in bc ,and because this happened at work wcb tells me where to go it like the ask you to jump and i say how high, i just do not understand why a nerve block ?

Jomar 07-26-2012 08:37 PM

I don't understand the nerve block either when loss of pulse is the problem...
Do you have pain too?
Oh, never mind, I just went back and saw that you do, maybe they are addressing that first?
