MW151 and MW189

"A new class of drug developed at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine shows early promise of being a one-size-fits-all therapy for Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and traumatic brain injury by reducing inflammation in the brain.
...
By addressing brain inflammation, the new class of drugs -- represented by MW151 and MW189 -- offers an entirely different therapeutic approach to Alzheimer's than current ones being tested to prevent the development of beta amyloid plaques in the brain. The plaques are an indicator of the disease but not a proven cause."

I'm cautiously optimistic. It seems like I've heard this song and dance before with other treatments. At least future generations might benefit from it.

Have they talked about side affects of the medication yet?

Welcome to NeuroTalk, Yachmene. I haven't read anything about it other than to report this article.

im the same way, I have heard this song so many times, and then six months later they tell you how many died on it, how it can stop your heart, or cause skin cancer...im scared of most of it.

I'm with Kitty on the reports of new meds - cautiously optimistic. Whether they get far in the development process or not, it's good to hear that research is ongoing. Eventually something might really work!
