Has anyone heard of DR genes in relation to Celiac?

Braintalk being down has been driving me crazy!!!!! It is so good to see familiar, er, faces? Names? Anyways...the question I've been waiting to ask...

My daughters pediatrician tested her, but said he was going to test for the most specific genes, DR2 and DR8. DQ is outdated. She tested as DR4,1.

But I can't find anything at all about DR and relation to celiac. I did find something linking DR4 to rheumatoid arthritis, which is related to gluten sensitivity, but thats all. I hate to just think he's "wrong". So...anyone have any info to "prove" him right? Or am I still at square 1?

Here is something that may help...or maybe confuse you even more. I certainly don't understand it. At Dr. Fine's conference this past Spring he said it took him a long time to understand the genetics.

In reading this DR4 only accounts for a small percent of people with CD.

Here is an abstract that mentions DR4 and celiac http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/q...t_uids=8851726

 this is confusing.

Thank you so much!

Ugh. So...DR4 is kind of like having DQ8...its implicated, but not commonly? And it appears to work with DQ? Ugh. I wish he'd just tested for DQ. Enterolab is looking appealling again...
