WalkAide System for Foot Drop

Anybody here ever tried this? I saw an ad for it in the latest Momentum magazine. I sent for more info on it.

I'm concerned about cost since the only insurance I have is Medicare.

I looked on their website and the closest dealer is in the same building as my Neuro is located!! In fact, Hanger made my Dad's prosthetic after his leg was amputated (due to diabetes). Wonder if they will remember me?!

I've called and left them a message so just waiting for them to call me back.

I was just wondering if anyone here has tried this or had success with it.

Found this site.

It might work for people with MS, etc. However, for people like me (CMT) it will not.

Thanks, Kitt. I looked at that site and watched some of the videos. It's the same site they had in their advertisement. I'd like to hear from folks who have used this device and can give me an honest evaluation of it and how it worked for them. The videos were good and informative but, of course, they were all from satisfied customers!

I agree - all satisfied customers. I suppose it works for some and not for others just like anything.:(

Didn't Erin and AMN try them? They might have something to tell.

Here's the thread where AMN discussed the Bioness, a similar one :)

Kitty: I am sure it works for a lot of people, but it did not work for me. I spent two hours at Hanger with them trying to make it work. They kept zapping my leg with electricity(?) and nothing happened. They kept upping it and it killed! They were trying to get my toes to lift, and they never did.

Anyhow, even if it worked, it was extremely heavy and I could not imagine dragging that thing around. Maybe for a guy, but I'm small, 5'-1", 96 lbs., and it was cumbersome.

I would still check it out if I were you. It must be helping someone to still be in business. It might work and you may like it.

Forgot to mention that I received a call from Hanger about 6 months ago that insurances are now starting to pay for it. The salesman did not realize it did not work for me. Maybe Medicare will pay for it. I wish it worked, because I need a walker now. Good luck and hope it works for you.

They tried it on me when I went for my L bracket thing for my left foot, no help at all. The lady had to keep resetting the power higher and higher and finally said I wasn`t a good candidate for it.
