Positive P-anca??

Hi
Was reading some older posts and it was mentioned that somebody had a positive ANCA test.

All my blood tests have come back normal except P-anca.
My MPO antibodies was negative, all my inflammation markers negative and my autoimmune markers all normal.

Would this kind of result be called Atypical P-anca pattern?

Have been doing extensive research and am finding it really hard to try and find much information on just what positive P-anca alone actually means.

Would really love to know if anyone can shed some light on this it would be great. :)

A positive P-ANCA titre--

--is most often associated with Churg-Strauss syndrome, a vascuitic/cutaneous tissue inflammation that is considered part of the broad range of autoimmune syndromes that are grouped under connective tissue disorders. There are also some drug-induced situations that may result in a positive titre, and cardiomyopathic inflammation can result in a positive titre in some cases as well.

ANCA general, can you tell me what that means? I guess l am more interested in finding out what p-ANCA alone means.

Also what does an atypical p-ANCA mean? Does it mean without any specific antibodies?

Thanks so much for this, getting a step closer each time to understanding what all this actually means. The doctors just don't seem to think its a big deal, so l need to find out for myself.

Love this site and always have felt l could come and ask questions and have found out so much valuable information here that has made my life so much easier and you are a very knowledgable group of people. Don't know what l would do without this wonderful site.

Cheers Sue:)
