Self Harm

Hi, I have an addiction for self harm. This for me has gotten to a very serious problem in my life espicially after fighting with my relatives, some days the fights will be serious enough that I get hurt physically by them and others mentally with thoughts that I am usless.
Amongst all these thoughts in my life I have no other way to express my hate for myself than making cuts on my arms and legs, I have gone this way for over 4 years now and overtime has become an obsession, I am mentally unstable and cannot controll the act of self harming.
If I could have any help that could contribute I will greatly appriciate it.

- Many regards...Elisha.

Hi Elisha ~ I know this is a serious problem. Harming yourself after someone else harms you just makes matters worse sweetie. You're hurting yourself twice -- once after THEY hurt you, and once after YOU have hurt yourself. And it's probably over something pretty trifle.

Dearheart, you need to see a counselor. You need a professional to talk to, either a psychologist, or psychiatrist. They can help you to stop this kind of behavior. I've been in therapy most of my adult life, off and on. It has helped me immensely!! I URGE you to go -- please make an appointment as soon as possible. If you cannot afford it, check with Social Services and see what they have to offer in mental health services -- they may have a psychologist on staff who will see you for very little money or perhaps even free. I'm not sure -- it's different in every state/county. So please check, and make an appointment, ok? It's crucial that you get some help!!!

God bless and will you PLEASE let us know how you come out? Let us know of your progress, and if you get into therapy?? We DO CARE!!! Take care of yourself, Hugs, Lee ;)

Oh my friend. I so feel for you. I've been there .. Still am. I tend to scratch my arms from elbow to wrist when I hate myself. I stopped for a long while, but this last year has seen its return.

Pm me if you want to chat. Xx

Hi Elisha,

This sounds like a very severe situation. I'm assuming you are a minor. With that said, I'm surprised someone hasn't reported these actions to child protective services. I'm shocked that there is so much violence in your life. Counselors can be very helpful in these situations. And yes, the violence inflicted on you by your relatives definetly will cause you to hurt yourself. You did the right thing by coming here. I encourage you to reach out to as many people as you can. Take care with things.

Dear Elisha I'm so sorry your feeling such a way that you feel as if harming yourself feels right. Honey my daughter had this cutting problem many years ago and as her mother I cared so so much. we had psychiatric help, but in the end the problem was seeing that shes important and most of all loved.
Self love is very important in order for you to love yourself enough to stop. God unconditionaly loves you, your his child. Holy in every inch of you. I pray you'll find that self love. Maybe its the love of others in the future that will make you stop, like future children, grand children, spouse. these people need your love now, today protect your precious future with the greatest of the virtures...LOVE.
God Bless and good luck

Hello Elisha

Welcome to Neruo Talk. The moderator sent you to the right forum. Just wanted you to know you are welcome here. I am sorry you have that problem and I have heard of this before. Just consider, allowing yourself the gift of going to the hospital for a time to get this under control. You are a human being deserving of happiness and self love. This is what I would do. I do wish you all the best. ginnie
