Help w x-ray

I told my ortho about my diagnosis with rsd and he agreed and x-rayed my hand. There were some light spots that are new and he says there may still be some work to be done. He wants me back in 3 months to take another picture. Can anybody give their thoughts as to what the weird spots on the x ray may be?

Hey Morgan, I asked my wife your question she has been an xray CT tech for 20 years and she told me without seeing the film/Image there no way to tell. Sorry not the answer your looking for I know.

The only thing xrays show is bone. So I don't know if this means arthritis, or what. I would call and ask.

x-ray image spots

The light spots are showing the parts of your bone that is weak, possibly bone loss. I know this because I had lots of x-rays taken about a year ago and I had light spots that showed up as well. I'm surprised they didn't explain to you what it could mean...that was the first thing they did when showing me the x-rays. Now, I don't know about in your case...but in my case the light spots meant Osteopenia. Yours could mean that or Osteoporosis or Arthritis. You should ask them to explain it to you. I'd just call ans ask. Good Luck!

I had light spots showing in xrays also...I was told this means a difference in bone density/loss due to the RSD. Then had a bone scan that would be more accurate. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Thanks for the replies. The pictures definitely look diff than before. But my ortho is hard to talk to. When I go back questions will be asked. It does make sence that the light spots are less dense bone, I just don't want it to be. Really bites, but thank you all for the info.
