New but realizing not alone:)
I am a wife, mother of 3,student,and survivor. Running across these support groups have brought me comfort knowing Im not alone. I had a car accident 8yrs ago which fractured my spine in 2 places (while 3mos pregnant with my son). I had to learn to walk again while carrying a 9lb baby. the pain was always there but several yrs later I was hit with a pain I never knew could be real. I had ruptured a disc..SITTING!
It took several months, test, drs but finally had my discectomy. I was cured! Or so I thought! Within 6 months the pain was back. Once again several drs, test, months later I was diagnosed with everything under the sun. Then it happened..My insurance was CUT!GONE!POOF! I am currently in PM but everyday I pray that the pain will not just be masked but cured. The dr says I need yet another discectomy, scar tissue removed, and an additional part of my spine shaved down. But how could I afford that? I smile in front of my family,I hide the pain, I get angry with them,I cry FOR them and what they have to go through. I am lost. I think about my husband who lives his every hour loving me and making sure Im okay. But all I can think is that he has a 30yr wife that has to be taken care of..will he be here in 10yrs?Will I be an embarassment to my children if I get to the point I cant walk? I dont think any of this is true..but the thought is still there. Thank you for giving me the chance to vent and to read all of your amazing stories. |

Welcome and you are right you are not alone. I feel for you and will pray for your relief. Try not to be so hard on yourself. It sounds as though you have a loving husband and children. There are many kind and caring people here and some great advice. There is more to us than this frail physical form that presents. I am sure you still have alot to offer.
Hope you feel better soon. |
Thank you

Thank you for the response...and you are correct, I do have a very loving family who are a great source of support. Turning to sites like this are very helpful as well though because it allows me to relate and be related too. Everyday is a struggle, some more than others, and my only hope is that I can be there for my husband and children the way they are there for me.:) |
There for them
I think you already have and will continue to do so. Love given so generously to others is often repaid many times over. Maybe it will not be as we perceive it but I believe it will happen just the same.

Hey....just wanted to add my welcome to the group!!! I too am blessed with a very....as my surgeon would call it...unique back. I also have the most loving kind hubby! A few weeks after we married I had my fourth back surgery. I am also his full-time caregiver...he was diagnosed with MS over 26 years ago. My advise to you is to cherish every moment you have with your little family. Live each day as if it is your best day ever! You take care and keep us updated!

Hey You need lots of hugs too :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: Those are all natural thoughts one would have if they were in your shoes. Don't feel bad those thoughts. We can't tell you what's going to happen in ten years. We all have wondered that. I used the five year scale. People are placed in our lives for reasons. And yes, people leave out of our lives for reasons. I hope all your family stays intact and you grow closer for your struggles together. |

I can sympathize with what you're saying a bit. When the paramedics came to pick me up the past few times I've been to the emergency room, I haven't been able to walk and my spine would get hot. It's scary. More than a few times I thought I would be paralyzed or die. Nothing is easy to cope with if it affects your brain. The good news is there are tons of people to support you. I am so deeply sorry about the insurance problem. Just please keep fighting. You are an inspiration to anyone that has experienced pain similar to yours and I respect you. |
