Can anyone shed some light on why Im not in as much pain as everyone else !
Hi there, Im new to this forum and wanted to ask a question.
I had an MRI in January which showed a 4mm disc protusion at L5/S1 with moderate disc degeneration, and mild impingement of the right nerve root. My symptoms were minor lower back pain with a pulling feeling like a piece of string was pulling through my back to my butt, but no real pain. Other than that I have had the odd pins and needles and funny skin sensation on my calf At the moment I have no real symptoms at all. I am just curious , as from what I have read everyone else with similar disc issues with nerve compression seem to be in extreme pain ! I am just wondering as to why my nerve pain has never been painful ! Do people feel nerve pain in different ways? I have seen a neurosurgeon and physios who have both said its something I have to live with and manage, which I am doing well with. Is there anyone else that mainly felt their pinched nerve issue as a nuisance rather than pain? |
We are all different........different conditions causing the trouble, different degrees of pain, different set of coping skills etc. How old are you? This is a relatively new situation for you? I am thrilled that your sensations are more annoying than painful and disabling. I pray they stay that way. Best wishes.

Hello april
Yes, we all react to pain, or discomfort differently. Pain can be subjective even to your doctors. If you arn't experiencing real pain, just be glad, and enjoy your life to the fullest you can. We do not know what the morrow will bring. For you in this time and place, pain is kept at bay. I am glad for you. Just keep going back to your doc and get good check ups. ginnie:hug:

Im 28 :) Just couldnt work out why everyone else described it as a burning painful sensation where mine was just a "pulling" sensation.
