Problems crossing the road and other vehicles
I nearly got knocked over again today. I saw the first car coming and waited didn't notice / see / register the car behind it. Trouble is this is not the first time I have done it.
Anybody else have the same problem |
Yes
I have had that happen. I realized then that I wasnt road ready at that time. I can't too many things at one time or I get sidetracked. Whether I look in the fridge, go to the grocery, or just try to get in my car to go somewhere without 14 trips back upstairs to get one more thing I forgot, much less crossing the street. I just have to really prep for each situation mentally, physically and spiritually. Slow down and become aware of what I am doing when I am doing it. I sewed curtains and made them 6 inches too short because I couldn't do all I was trying to do. It is frustrating but don't put yourself in dangerous situations.

TBI has it right. I have lived with this for over 11 years. I have learned many work-arounds. As TBI said, slowing down and learning to be deliberate makes a big difference.
The biggest part is recognizing that your brain is struggling. This is the start of learning the work-arounds and accommodations needed to be safe and functional. Good for you. Keep learning. |
Thanks both. I am aware of the dangers and take extra care. There just seems to be problem relating my senses to my thinking in this case what my eyes are seeing to what I am recognising.
I have the same problem sometimes with the telephone. I can be sat in the same room and the telephone will ring - after a while one of the family will ask "are you going to answer it". |

It's like
Your brain can't keep up with your external sensory. I have been there. Time and rest are your friend.
