post falre w/ON question
As you know I had a bad flare with ON in left eye a bit ago. Is it normal for that eye to still be a bit fuzzy, with vision that sort of gets better/worse throughout the day? If this is normal, will it eventually get back to its pre flare/ON vision and how long does this take?
Reason I ask is I need to know when the eye is considred "settled" so I can go for my eye exam to see if I need new lenses in my glasses. I don't want to waste my money at eye doc if it just needs some more time. Thanks in advance |
I think we vary on this. It took me 8 years to completely recover from ON. After that, I was fine for 16 years, then had a recurrence this year in June because of smoke from forest fires. This time, my eye improved more rapidly but it's still not whole, and I did get glasses, after not having had them for a long time. I know what you mean about glasses expense. I paid a pretty good price for mine, having been burned before by glasses made at one of those nearly-free companies.

I took forever for my eyes to even begin to heal, and while I am still on the line of legally blind from the last ON attack, I do have peroids of clarity and periods or dim/fuz vision. its all quite maddening. I just want to see well enough to read a book.
I am seeing a special eye surgeon who specializes in neurologic disorders on 9/11 so, keep your fingers crossed. |
Praying for you to heal faster, please.

so in other words I am "normal" ;) Well, perhaps I should say my eye is acting as expected after this bout with ON. Thanks for eassuring me that nothing out of the ordinary is going on - I just need to give it more time and learn to be a more patient patient.
* for some odd reason this strikes me as the funniest thing this morning! Thanks all!!! |
Eleven years after my first huge flare that caused ON, and I still have double vision when I look to my left. When I am overheated, or overtired, I still get fuzzy vision. Sorry if this is not the answer you wanted to hear.....but I have learned to compensate when I drive, by turning my head. You will compensate too.

Recently had my first ever ON attack, also left eye. Still have moments like others have mentioned of blurry vision, or where I feel as though the ON could be creeping back in. So far so good though. I went back to my eye specialist to get my eyes checked out and she confirmed that the ON didn't leave any permanent damage to my vision as far as sight goes, that my optic nerve, retina etc look in great shape. Maybe I got lucky.
