Do you relate to this?
I know I need to be patient and its only been a month since my accident this week, but after quite a good day yesterday, thinking I was on my way back to normal.............
Today I wake with flu like symptoms, an aversion to the sun, no energy and a banging head. There does seem to be a link with the first few seconds of the day and the rest of it, ie first thing in the morning, when I sit up after sleep, if I feel dizzy and sick and the room is spinning, that becomes a terrible day. If on the other hand I wake up clear headed that turns into a great day. Does anyone else relate to that? |
Hi I do relate to the flu like symptoms... Mine are slightly different though they occur in episodes of general unwellness, headache, nausea, fatigue, dizziness, braig fog etc... Which funnily enough seem to start first thing in the morning for a couple of hours then seem to get better if I have no episodes later on.

This usually results from the quality of sleep the previous night. For me, I sometimes will have periods of sleep apnea and wake up all messed up. It can also be caused by too much activity the previous day that leaves the brain so fatigued that it struggles to sleep properly, such as cycling through REM sleep.

Hi !
I can totally relate to this. I have found that through the course of my recovery, 3 months now, that if i over do it one day because i feel better i really pay for it over the next couple of days. As Mark from idaho said, a poor nights sleep really does you in. Rest is the king of recovery i certainly find, easier said than done sometimes. Take it easier for a couple of days. |
Yes your all right, I haven't been sleeping well, and obviously trying to do some cleaning is overdoing it. Had to go out today using a walking stick to help with the balance (£1.50 in a second hand store) but it helped me stay upright.
Does anyone resort to a wheelchair when they have to go out? |
I am very fortunate and I dont need to use a stick or chair for balance issues when i go out. How long have you had dizzyness like this ?
Domt forget to chill out for a couple of days. |
Its been a month this week that I have been on litural bed rest. Today I was so desperate to get out to a coffee shop (I live nr the most stunning villages and missed it) I got mum to take me. Once out I wished I was in a wheelchair, had to keep sitting down everywhere.
What about you, what happened? |
I find much the same. If I can get up in my own time, stretch myself out and then take time to recover. I get quite a good day. However, if my 6 year old grandson comes running jumping on the bed like 6 years olds full of energy do - it can be long day.
The other thing I find is that once I wake up, If I try and go back to sleep I drift in and out and get some surreal / bizarre dreams - so I try and avoid it. You are still in the early stages of recovery and some symptoms will only now start coming to the fore. I found this really hard to deal with especially when some of the original symptoms were subsiding. I guess they may have been there all the time but the more severe ones were masking the others. As you say you have had a month of literal bed rest and your body won't be used to the walking and the outside world. At least you did the right thing and stopped for a rest rather than keep on pushing yourself. Try a little light pottering round the house or garden. I find that helps a lot and also adds some valuable structure to the day. My routine is 8 am Wake up - If I can do this each day its not going to be too bad :winky: Stretch. Get up, get dressed Breakfast Have a little screen time clear the breakfast things away light vacuum the downstairs Sit down and have a drink Check on some garden things 10:30 ish mid morning rest and a snack Something else 12:00 ish lunch and quite often fall asleep etc. I make sure that I don't go too long without rest or a drink but gives me enough time to plod along without being obsessed by time or pushing myself |
Oh, that sounds trrible. I have some days where i am more dizzy than others. It really does depend on how tired i am. I i find the more tired i am the worse i feel.
I went through the back of a car window whilst i was on my bicycle. Was wearing a helmet. I wasn't knocked out and left hospital that day, felt ok to be honest. Then a few weeks later felt like hell, and so it continues. To be fair i am improving. The most annoying thing for me at the moment is muscle twitches, mostly in my legs. They tend to come and go. I am very lucky, i work full time ad have a very supportive wife and my two yung daughters are great and understand that dad fell off his bike ! I hope you have more of those better days, especially with the summer bank holiday coming up ! Cheers for now Quote:
