Brain MRI Results back!
My findings were: No Focal Lesions to indicate MS, No acut ischemic event, and no pathological enhancement with gadolinium.
However, they did find a 1.4cm cystic lesion within the pineal gland. Is this a definite negative for MS?! And what the heck is a cystic lesion in comparison to a focal lesion? |
Hi Chekithearts,
The term 'lesion' can refer to any abnormal growth regardless of location. Example: skin cancer is a lesion. A cyst is different than a 'lesion' seen in those with MS. This link helps explain what cysts are: http://hope.abta.org/site/DocServer/...pdf?docID=1221 |
i'm not a dr but it doesn't sound like that finding would be consistent with MS.
more might depend on your sx's (symptoms), your neuro exam, possibly an LP (altho without mri findings they wouldn't do an LP) etc. but, don't give up on findings answers. keep a sx journal with sx's and dates for your dr. sometimes MS can take time to declare itself on mri. keep asking Q's and check in with your dr. |
sounds like a incidental finding. Remember, a radiologist has to describe everything the films show, it is up to the MD to make diagnosis/treatment decisons. *pineal cysts are not indicative of MS
