Post concussion set backs
I had a set back that landed in the hospital almost 7 weeks to the day of the accident. I feel like that accident took my life, I'm always afraid when I feel too good because I never know whats lurkinh around the corner. How many more set backs can I look forward to? It feels like i'm at day one.

Setbacks
It is a personal issue with me so I do not like the term setback. I think of it as good days and not so good. Some days are both. Luckily for me that is how most are. I had an awful period of over two months early on, very dark and unpleasant.
So being graced with the other end of the spectrum from time to time I feel is a gift. I took for granted so much. |
lah0816,
It is important to not over-estimate the meaning of a good day. If you try to return to normal activities after a good day, you are almost guaranteed to have a bad day. Consider improvement by 2 week intervals. If you can extend a good day to 2 weeks, you can add a bit of activity for a day and see if you have a bad day the next. If you don't, 2 days of mild activity can be tried. You need to understand that a good day with activity will not show you your limits. They always come a day later. Some of us have learned to recognize the subtle signals that we are doing too much on our good days. By stopping at these first signs, we can extend our good days. It is a slow learning process. We do not look for or expect a sudden recovery. Take it slow and try to learn from your brain and body. You will learn to do better, eventually. My best to you. |
