Really inspiring article for those thinking about later...

We have often discussed communal living for late stage PDers, and what it might look like, this is from Holland, and is about dementia sufferers, but I think it is both inspiring and hopeful, these people seem a world away from a lot of care home users, and the ethos looks great.

The village where people have dementia – and fun

Thanks Lindylanka. I cried when I read this. Such humanity. I watched a programma on BBC where they tried to change the regime in a care home to one where the residents "helped" with the chores and generally moved about doing activities and there was a happy buzz about the place but as within a short time the staff had reverted to the previous regime. Memory books, the patients own clothes, any knowledge of the life of the person before they fell vicitim to dementia are often firmly ignored as I know from first-hand accounts.
