Is increased blood pressure bad?

So far one of the more calming things for me to do is relax in the bath or hot tub. But the other day my dad said that hot water increases your blood pressure.

I recall that every time I've seen a doctor about my PCS they initially take my blood pressure. So is there an inherent risk?

A hot bath or soak does not necessarily raise your blood pressure. The relaxation will lower your blood pressure.

I suggest you get a home blood pressure kit. You can buy them for $20 to $30 at a drug store like Walgreens. Everyone should know how to track their blood pressure. If you get a head ache, you can check your blood pressure to see if it is high and contributing to your head ache.

Blood pressure is only a problem when it stays high or has very high spikes.

Hope this answers your question.

If anything a hot bath will vasodilate your blood vessels (meaning expanding them, or making them larger) which in return would lower your blood pressure. Along with the relaxation effects of a hot bath, that will also lower your blood pressure.
