Trying to help someone with a brain tumor
 

Hi All.

This morning I was told about a 28 year old young man who recently began suffering from seizures. He went to a neurologist, they did their tests and it was discovered he has a brain tumor. When I asked the girl who told me this "Can they operate"? She told me 'No, they told him it's too close to the brain".

She also said he got 3 opinions and no one would operate. She is getting me more info and when I get it I'll post here. I guess I'm trying to determine (once I get the exact diagnosis), if indeed no one will operate.

This young man is only 28 years old. What a shame.

Sometimes, when one finds a 4th opinion, one finds a doctor who has the absolutely latest laser or some kind of equipment that the other doctors don't presently have. I really don't know.

I felt I had to do something so I told her I would get more information for her. She is going to get the rest of his medical information.

When i find out more, I'll post here and maybe one of you can say "He has a shot, they are doing trials in this, or maybe we know a physician who does this type of sugery".

I really don't know.

So when i find out more, I'll post here.

The kind and location of the tumor makes all the difference. There are a few specialists who operate on tumors that others will not touch. There are also some 'knifeless' procedures for some tumors.

And that's what I told her. So as soon as she updates me, I'll post it here and maybe I can get SOME info to give her.

Mark - I enjoy reading your posts and replies, and will post my bio one day - I tend to be long winded - is there a word limit on beginning posts? I have a detailed history, my last concussion got the best of me.

I also shall share my background and hope to give some assistance in future when I have no fog of my own, which does happen - like today.

I'll admit my bias up front since I was a patient there and am alive today, but Barrows Neurological institute in Phoenix does more brain surgeries than anywhere else in the country, and they have the reputation for being able to perform surgeries that other hospitals can't or won't consider.
