Curly hair because of prednison?

Hi there, just wondered... I always had very, very straight hair (really straight, asian straight). But now, I have loads of curls. Not waves, but actual curles!
I guess medicine caused it, but since I am on so many, I don't know which one causes it. I started noticing it, about a year after I started prednison.

Anyone else had this? I think it is a nice side effect :)

Hi Raven, nice to see you.

I noticed losing hair while on Prednizone, but no curls. Are you on any chemo? Sometimes hair grows back in curls. I'm not saying that stuff will curl your hair, but..well..:D

Well, I did use methotrexate, but not the chemo dosage (25 mg a week), so that's probably not the reason!

I've never noticed that. I do know that as I get older my hair is getting curly. I really don't know how to manage it or what to do with it. It's crazy because I have always had straight hair as well.

It could be the prednisone or one of the other medicines you take. Meds can do that. So, enjoy your new curly hair.:p

Changes in hormones as we age can cause hair to curl. Mine has done the same and the lady that does my hair said that she sees it often.

Thanks! The naturalllycurly link didn't work. I'll have to google it. And, I got my haircut not too long ago and it helps. I've had my hair long (below shoulders to the bottom of my bra line) for years. It's now shoulder length with layers and the curls lay nicely.

Of note, I think any medicine you take can change your hair. Medicines change our body chemistry and naturally would change our hair. I do know that dying your hair when on meds can result in some "different" colors. My hairstylist told me about that once.
