Extreme Nerve Sensitivity

Help! My sister has been miserable for 25 years and it is getting more acute!
She has extreme nerve sensitivity to the point she is sensitive to noise, touch, and her life is narrowing her activities. She currently has the sensation of bees in her legs from an "adjustment" her chiropractor made to her knee.
She cannot bend her knee and she thinks she will lose her mobility and she is talking about suicide. I don't know what to suggest- she has gone to many doctors but she is increasingly hesitant to go since they want to poke and touch her which creates other problems. Is there ANYONE out there with these problems???? She can't even open a heavy door or carry more than 5 pounds. I do not live in the same city but talk to her every day. She has been suffering for so long and no diagnosis! Any ideas?????? A concerned sister

Welcome to NeuroTalk:

First off...has your sister had a B12 test? Low B12 causes nerve damage. She should get this test ASAP, and ask for the numbers themselves, because doctors still use old outdated lab ranges showing low results as "normal".

Here is our B12 thread on the Peripheral Neuropathy forum:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum20.html
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread85103.html

This is only a start. Visit our PN forum and make a post with more details so we can perhaps send you on a healing path.
Some neuropathies are genetic but not all. There can be over 100 causes of nerve damage otherwise. There is alot to read and learn here, so pull up a chair, get your coffee/tea ready and begin!;)

Personally it sounds like your sister has RSD. RSD causes temperature changes, the limb can turn colors, extreme sensitvity.

Check out the RSD/CRPS forum:

Hi there. I am so sorry for what you and your sister are going through. No one has been able to help her at all? In 25 years? My goodness.

I can feel the fear you feel for her. You have been given lots of good info. Hopoefully you can pass them on to your sister.

I just wanted to stop by and say Welcome to Neurotalk

Melody
