hospitalized and now need surgery
I just spent a week in the hospital (infected gall bladder) came home with a drain and limits as to what I am allowed to do. You would think the medical personnel would listen to what was needed..but it was a bit of a nightmare. I now have to have my gall bladder out and am scared
In the midst of all this my SSDI hearing is coming up and judge has ordered a neuro eval and xrays..there is no getting out of it I am told..even though it means cancelling surgeon appt and postponing surgery Surgeon is not happy because drain must not be left in longer. Anyone ever heard of something like this---any suggestions??? I really don't want to end up in the ER again and needing emergency surgery.. |
hi anne
Call the SSDI office and your caseworker/lawyer. You must not postpone the surgery, and have drain removed. This can be a life threatening situation medically. This is an emergency and get your physicial health returned before proceeding with your fight. Someone at the SSDI office must be able to get through to those that have the hearing. I had gangreen in my gallbladder from postponing, and could have died. This is what happens when we wait too long to take care of ourselves. You come first not the hearing. Get someone to listen to you. I will pray for you. ginnie:hug:

Do you have a SSDI atty?
The surgeon should be able to write a strong letter to the judge or case worker etc, advising of the urgency of the gallbladder treatment/surgery. I would hope that an official letter from the surgeon will be proof enough for a postponement of the SSDI case & tests. Maybe the person that said "there is no getting out of it" doesn't understand what happened or does not believe the story? Proof is needed. An offical letter from the surgeon should do it. |
I have been trying for 3 days now and nobody seems to think it is a big deal. I have called SSDI office and explained and told if I cancelled it may be years before my case would come up again. I contacted my atty who said I have no choice but to go along with the eval and xrays. I have no idea what further xrays could be needed, had bone scan in late April and xrays in June...i really don't need more exposure. I contacted the physician's office where they have me scheduled (40minutes from my home and I am not allowed to drive) they were very sympathetic and would love to reschedule..but it is all up to the judge

Then get your surgeon to do the letter, send copies to your attorney, the SSDI office and the Judge stating that if they require you to cancel this essential surgery they must accept full, legal, financial and medical responsibility for their actions.
