PCS = Leg cramps

Just curious, I tried a search and did not come up with anything. I have seen reference of some people having some muscle pain however.

I noticed that when I hit a bout of insomnia or go through a day or two of some cognitively taxing activities my calf muscles feel like I ran a marathon the previous day. They feel sore and tight like they were worked too hard at the gym, hangs around until I can get a couple of days of proper sleep generally.

Anyone else have this?

Before my last setback I had leg cramps for about 5 days worsening until the day of my setback. Although I have returned to work part-time now and much better I am somewhat questioning if this is a warning sign of a threshold?

I have had two kinds of muscle problems.

I have had muscle cramps where a calf muscle cramps in a very painful way. I also have situations where a muscle has pulled a digit into complete flexion. It happens with my thumbs and toes. I need to massage the muscle to get it to release. These situations happen when I use that muscle and it does not release.

I also have a problem with muscle tension. It is basically a condition where muscles do not relax completely. I often find a muscle or muscle group in tension. It may be shoulder and upper chest muscles, lats, delts, and pecks. I did it so much during the early years after my 2001 injury that I went from a 36 to 38 shirt to a 42 shirt. My waist only went from 32 to 33. I never had upper chest muscle definition until this muscle tension symptom. This upper body muscle tension is called "postural rigidity."

There is a situation where legs will tense up, especially during sleep. It is sometimes a symptom of calcium and magnesium deficiency. There is a need to have an appropriate level of phosphorus with any magnesium and calcium.

I have had a long term struggle with twitching legs, maybe 'restless legs syndrome' it was never diagnosed. I have not had this twitching legs problem for a month or two. I started taking Tumeric Extract daily that includes 855 mgs of circumin and 5 mgs of piperine alkaloids. I don't know if it is the cause of my relief from twitching legs but it sure is timed like it is.

It helped me. I hope something I have said can help you.

Thanks Mark, I will discuss what you told me with the naturopath for the possibility of adjustments to my supplement regime.

My twitches have gone away in my hands further away from my setback, the leg cramps persist for some reason on and off.

I get all sorts of funny muscle cramps/spasms I didn't have before. My left leg/ankle is temperamental and some of my fingers and one of my thumbs will start twitching and trembling from time to time. I frequently bend my right thumb only for it to start shaking uncontrollably.

My legs often feel like I've ran a marathon despite having spent 3 consecutive days in bed.

I just finished traveling yesterday and my quads feel very sore - felt like I'd been doing squats. Maybe its because I've stopped almost all exercise since getting PCS. I used to get weird twitches on my face and in my legs during the first few months but they seemed to have passed for now.
