Hi,
I'm a librarian in chronic pain (probably CRPS) and just read a good book for those dealing with pain or illness. It's called The Lonely Patient by Michael D. Stein. It is written by a great, caring internist and it touched me in many ways. It would be a a wonderful book for all doctors to read but good for anyone in chronic pain or with a chronic illness. Nina |

Thanks for the recommendation! Is it a new book or can u find it at the library?

The Lonely Patient
It is just out in the last couple of months - depends of how big your local library is as to whether or not they would have it, but they can always get it for you through Interlibrary Loan, a usually free service.
I posted the title in Chronic Pain forum and someone asked if there were any other good titles for pain patients. When I get to work tomorrow, I'll try to see if I can think of anything and if so, post it. While there are lots of books on how to deal with pain, this one was just different because it took a look at pain from a more philosophical point of view and written by a doctor but not in the how to cure it sense. It was very sympathetic to those in pain/illness and made you feel not so weird or guilty for your emotions. |
I Googled up a list of links/info so you can find out more about book.
