This is becoming more traumatic-advice needed.
My server keep blocking me out of this site, back now.
Since I last logged on a lots happened. So last wednesday a.m I was involved in a minor RTC. A car shunted me behind in wet conditions. I thought nothing of it at the time but within 15 mins I was in a lot of pain but was on my way to work. After work I had booked my own hair in at a salon where it's really hard to get an appt so I didn't want to cancel. I thought sitting relaxing would be as good as going home. As my hair was washed my whole body went into spasm over and over again. I was sobbing with pain. An hour later as I am walking back to my car I suddenly was lost, I didn't know who I was, where I was or what was going on. I looked for someone to help but despite the tears people just stared at me. After about 15 minutes my memory returned. The next evening my husband had just gone out and I suffered the worst pain I have had in my life up the back of my head. My husbands new phone had crashed so I couldn't call him. I called my mum and told her if I went silent to call 999. My speech started to slur and I couldn't think straight. 1 minute later I seemed fine so hug up and sat to rest I tried to talk again and I was still slurring so I called my doctor who immediately called the paramedics. I had an immediate CT-clear. Offered a lumbar puncture but didn't want it done in mid of night when doctors not at best. 3 days later on Sunday I felt great, went to work. On way home popped into shop for milk. I suddenly felt terribly poorly. I told the shop keeper I needed to sleep so I lay down and went to sleep in the middle of the shop floor! I woke up in an ambulance. Paramedics and docs suggest TIA's. What do you think?? |
I'm so sorry to hear about your week. I have a feeling your docs and paramedics might be right about the TIAs.
They should have investigated a proper cause though. You might have a neck injury or a whiplash, which is causing your TIA symptoms and spasms. Neck pain can feel like a very bad headache. You should look up the symptoms of whiplash and see if they fit. You really need to get proper treatment because you shouldn't need to be going through this. Even a very minor accident can cause whiplash because the neck is very easy to damage. Your brain is struggling from the decrease in blood flow from your tense neck, also the neck has input on certain areas of the brain which control blood pressure and breathing. This might also explain your high blood pressure. Please get some therapy for your neck as soon as you can, and stay away from any medication that might interfere with your blood pressure, Yours. |
I would definetly be worried about a TIA. Also, not sure of your age... But you may have some carotid stenosis (narrowing of the vessels in the neck) that causes decrease blood flow to the brain. You should have a CT angio of the head and neck to visualize carotids as well....make sure they are using contrast in the CT. The intital one you had is usually a non contrast head ct when they are questioning stroke. Also an MRI/MRA may also be a good idea. this is an MRI where they also use contrast....again to better visualize vessels and possibly narrowing. Hopefully you find answers soon. That is incredibly scary. Good luck to you

Thank you for yr message.
Sorry I didn't explain who I was. My history is a TBI back in July. One week in hospital plus one month in bed. Very severe injury, am under 3 specialists, so this is month 3 and am having very frightening new symptoms. |
Not sure how things are handled in the UK, however, your 3 specialists should have been brought in by your primary, and you should have had whatever workups while in hospital that last time, with thorough reinvestigation of your problems. Its hard enough to get people to listen to our problems, demand care.
Everyone has a cellphone these days - take a pic of anyone's license and insurance card when involved in even the smallest "shunt" on the roadway - you never know what may evolve from your past history, especially as recent as yours was. Leave reminders in your wallet with your license to get the other driver's info; on your visor , somewhere highly visible - protect yourself when you are not responsible - remember all those shakeups are TRAUMA to your neck and head. |
