Blood pressure has shot up!

One more thing...... I have always had low blood pressure. Average 90/60.

This week both times the paramedic has picked me up it has been 184/127 and 165/104!

Any ideas?

BP

When it reaches 180/110 you should be calling you dr or heading to ER. BP that high is approaching stroke and possible heart condition levels. Do not full around with this. The noddle in our heads is already sensitive and does not need any added stressers. BTW there is meds that can be used to lower BP for acute attacks.

i would recommend you to see a doctor. that pressure 184/127 is way too high.

Hi peachey

For sure get that BP checked out. That is too high. I developed High blood pressure due to stress and am now on medication. Pain can also raise your BP. Just don't let it go OK? ginnie

I am in constant pain actually. I did not consider that as a possible cause. Thank you

Hi peachy

make sure you get to a doctor soon. Way to high of a BP, you don't want to have a stroke. take care of yourself. ginnie

peachy,

You need to see the doctor and get a script for a quick acting BP med. If it becomes chronic, you will likely need a maintenance BP med. My wife is using a very small dose of Atenolol (1/4 of a 25 mg tablet) once a day and it makes a big difference.

Hawthorne Tea can help. Niacin is also good.

I have had a few 195/145 events and am quick to grab a propanolol that acts a bit quicker than the atenolol. The risk of stroke and heart attack is real.

I hope you get some good advice so be able to protect yourself.

My best to you.

Thank you Mark. The paramedics did make me promise to see my GP but I am waiting to see the consultant on the 26th. However I will go to my GP tomorrow.

good peachey

Glad to hear you are going to the doc. tomorrow. My BP did that in the office and as Mark stated, a quick working BP was given before I left the office. Take care, and I hope this has a quick resolution. ginnie

My BP has never been the same since my accident 9 months ago; I'm on lisinopril (SP?) for that. I also developed very bad cholesterol numbers due to the change in exercise, and take medicine for that. There are a lot of issues that can spring from a head injury not directly caused by the trauma, but just as life threatening.
