Improvements?
I think I might be showing some improvements? I'm not quite sure yet...but I've been able to play games on my phone for 30 min at night before my brain becomes exhausted. It works out perfectly because at that time, its the end of the day and I could just sleep it off. Also, I've been able to withstand a short visit to the casino for three nights in a row without too many after effects.
Should I keep it up or slow it down? Is my brain starting to build tolerance to these things or should I expect a crash soon? K thx everyone. Nick |
I'd slow the casino visits down. What do you do at the casino?
Regarding playing on your phone, I suggest you stop playing sooner. You likely have started to fatigue your brain and will be able to sleep after 15 minutes or so. It is valuable to learn to take a slight mental fatigue and use it to get some sleep. Being a bit more careful will help you avoid the down days. My best to you. |
I mainly play the slot machines or the craps table. I try to avoid the real colorful, stimulating and loud machines because they instantly put me in space. It's always a bad idea to hit the casino, with or without a brain injury...and it always causes me some problems, but I'm tired of being bored and unable to do anything. That's mainly why I'm depressed. I feel like I have no hobbies. EVERYTHING that I liked doing before..drinking gambling, bowling, going to the movies, playing video games, watching TV..EVERYTHING is a huge problem for me now.
My ultimate goal is to ease back into things and build up tolerance so that I may once again do the things that I once enjoyed before. I want to be able to play games for hours on end like before. How can I ease myself into it again? I'm not satisfied with 10-15 min a day. It's not enough time for the type of games that I play. It would be nice to at least be able to enjoy SOME of the stuff I used to do. Is what I'm asking for too farfetched and out of reach? Thanks. |
Congratulations. I'd say expect ongoing challenges in an overall pattern of gradual improvement. You know, three steps forward and two steps back, and on it goes.
You'll get there, Nick. It takes time. This is 36 years of TBI talking. |
