Hellos!
Hi there, I am Tonya. I am a 38 yr old mom and wife from Williamsburg, VA. I am currently a stay at home slacker who is awaiting a surgery date for weightloss surgery. I have been going to school for my degree in Criminal Justice Administration for what seems like forever.
I currently suffer from chronic migraines, Celiac's Disease, Type II Diabetes, Hashimoto's Hypothyroid, Fibromyalgia, Arthritis in my knees, Dislocated Pelvic, and out of wack Sacrom, allergies, and depression, anxiety and PTSD. I am on a plethora of medications. Some of which help, some of which don't. I came here today because lately the right side of my face is going numb. Feels like I had novacaine, and yet, I haven't. Also I am getting this electrical type shock through my skull that makes me wanna fall to my knees in pain. Unfortanately, my PCP is out of town till the 16th, and I cannot get in to see him till the 17th. I am worried that something serious is going on. But at this moment, I have no clue what to do. Thank you for any support, understanding, and ideas I can get from ya'll. |

I ended up in the emergency room, because my doctor was more concerned about a stroke. But because the numbness moved to both sides of my face, they ruled that out. The ER Doctor did mention MS though. But they wouldn't check for that there. So they gave me some pain meds for the headache, and sent me home with a referral to a nuerologist.
Thank you for the welcome! :grouphug: |

Welcome to Neuro Talk, feel free to reach out whenever you'd need to talk :) |
Welcome to NT,
I was going to suggest the ER. Glad it's not an impending stroke. A neurologist is the first line of defense in your situation. There are many tests ahead for you, I'm fear. I hope you get answers soon. I would keep a diary, for now, of your symptoms, meds, foods, activities, sleep patterns, describing pain in as much detail as possible for the upcoming visit. There are relaxation and breathing techniques that may ease some of the suffering for you, for now. It's not a biggy, but it helps me get through the moment sometimes. Here's a link to start you out with. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/se...tion+breathing There's so much info here to research. Knowledge and understanding is a key to coping... Take care... |
Today has been okay, but my fibro is really acting up. We had to set up for a yard sale today, and I think I overdid it. At anyrate, I called the neuro they referred me to, and the closest appointment wasn't till January! So I have opted to see if I can find one on my own.
Thank you everyone for the thoughts, ideas, and the concerns. It means alot to know I am not alone :(:grouphug::hug: |
Sorry for the wait
Sorry to hear you are going to have to wait till January. You might could let them know to give you a call if they happen to get one before January. Some doctors tend to have cancelled appointment come up, maybe the can get you in.that
Hope everything turns out good. My thoughts and prayers are with you. |
So the neurologist is concerned and is trying to get me in ASAP. So far Im scheduled for November 26th. I will keep you updated. Thank you for the thoughts! <3
