dosage on Gabapentin ??
 

Hi all -
Hubby started Gabapentin a few weeks ago - hoping to help control the headaches and overstimulation factor.

Anybody able to tell me what dosage you are on?

When I was in practice, I can recall varied dosages used with patients, from 300 mg daily to 900 mg twice to three times a day.

I would refer you to this site for specific information about the medication, and it should give you information to allow you to formulate questions for your physicians.

I take 600 to 900 mgs. I only take it at night. It has an 8 hour half life so if the effect is needed throughout the day, a 2 or 3 times per day dosage is common.

I don't find any side-effects. I have taken as much as 1200 mgs per dose without a problem. It is important to not take it at the same time as taking a magnesium supplement. Google "gabapentin magnesium" to understand the issue.

I started on 200mg a day then up to 300mg after 2 weeks when the benefits started wearing off. Then up to 400mg split into morning and evening after 3 weeks. Been on that dose for a month now. Have found it has helped a lot with rogue muscle spasms and general limb weakness.
