Vitamin D3??
I don't remember who posted it or in what thread, but a while back somebody posted a link to a study that showed that MG patients who took D3 showed improved strength. I had some 2000 unit D3 tablets that I bought a while back and didn't take. I started taking them two or three weeks ago. I may be a little bit better. I am not one that placebo effect works very well with because I am so skeptical. It could be placebo, or maybe it has helped. Or maybe it has just been a good few days. Has anybody experienced this?

I take vitamin D3. I haven't noticed any improvements, though MG fluctuates so much for other reasons that I can't be sure--maybe I'd be worse without it, who knows. But the study said that MG patients tend to be low on D3 (which I was, according to my blood tests). Even if it doesn't noticeably improve your symptoms, it might protect you from other autoimmune diseases, or from osteoporosis, or from the flu.

I was recently given a prescription for Vit D 10000 mg per week. I took it on Thursday and my walking has been better. My symptoms are also variable so I didn't give it much thought until I read this thread. I will have to keep an eye on it.

My doctor instructed me to take 10,000 of D3 a day. Although, I have no way of knowing if that specifically is making me feel better or the other treatments I'm on (Mestinon and IVIg) or some combination of them.

Well at least I am pretty sure it is not hurting me. I guess I'll keep taking it.

I saw an article today that excess Vit D can cause liver and kidney problems. Im going to ask my neurologist about this when I see her later today.

They have me on 50,000 units twice weekly and my neuro said my body would flush out what ever it did not need.

If you are taking RX version D which is D2, it won't work well.
Also Vit D is fat soluble. The body does not flush it out. It is stored in fat. New studies have shown that RX D2 doesn't work. http://jcem.endojournals.org/content/89/11/5387.long This is only one study. A newer one found D2 87% less effective: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/ar...d-mistake.aspx Quote:
