Thoughts
I found this site while trying to find possible answers to recent problems I have been experiencing. I played football in high school and college and have had at least 4 concussions, and probably many others that were not reported. I am now 44 years old and teach high school history. My problems that I have been experiencing lately are loss of memory, especially in the short term, (this sometimes seems worse than others) increased irritability and emotional problems like breaking down at inappropriate times. My personal relationships have also seemed to suffer as well, in that I prefer to be alone rather than around my girlfriend, which is very unusual. Could this be PCS? Any help or input is most appreciated.

Ron,
Welcome to NeuroTalk. From what you say, your symptoms could be the age related symptoms of PCS. But, there can be other causes. When was your last concussion? Have you had surgery with general anesthesia in the past year or so? Are you under a lot of stress? How is your general health? You could also be undergoing male menopause. Getting your hormones tested may help. Hope this helps you find a direction. My best to you. |

Have you suffered a whiplash injury lately?

I feel like I am in better than average shape, I go to the gym daily and have not had surgery recently. I noticed yesterday that I am having a problem staying focused when reading long paragraphs. I often have to re read. I dont think I had this problem until recently.
