Early stage post op seeking advice

I had surgery on Monday so I am four days post op. per Jo*Mar's kind advice I would like to know what others experienced post op and what things to do and not do. My surgeon was one of the national docs discussed in this forum. I am a bi-literal TOS sufferer who has carried this for years before being diagnosed. Surgery was first rib resection, scalene muscle removal plus removing some scar tissue and adhesions. The timing of my surgery was not the best as the doctor is out for two weeks starting two days after my surgery. In fact he was unable to come and release me and sent one of his partners who obviously knew nothing about this stuff. I know I am not supposed to start PT for two weeks but not sure if I should be trying to move things around or just lay in the recliner which is all I feel like doing. I have had a lot of surgery before but this one takes the cake for feeling the worst post op. I actually felt ok the first two days but last 2 have been rough. I have intense pain in the upper scapula area and it feels like every muscle in the vicinity is contracting as a response. My arm is also doing this to some degree.

Is all of this normal? If so when does it start backing off? Were you told to get things moving immediately or wait a couple of weeks? I know every case is different and he told me I would hurt for 10 days or so. I know I am probably a more difficult case due to many previous surgeries, age (54) and all the atrophied and imbalanced muscles involved.

Thanks for any advice offered. Have a good day.
