400 mg of Magnesium a day

I don't know if I read it on another forum, or if someone else addressed it here, but I was recently told about taking Magnesium to help prevent headaches. My new Pain Management Dr. confirmed this and said studies had been done that showed that people who have chronic headaches/migraines were low in Magnesium.

I've been taking it about two weeks now, and went a whole week w/o a headache! I almost can't believe it's this simple!

I usually have some version of a headache every day, and have had for quite a few years. I have Thoracic Outlet Syndrome,(and spend most of my time in that forum, but wanted to share here) which I've blamed for the headaches, and I still think it's at least partially responsible, but at least now I'm getting relief, simply by taking a vitamin!

Just wanted to share that it's working for me, and I hope it can help others.

Best,
Maddy

You may have picked it up from one of my many posts promoting it.

You must be over the moon (not literally!).
I'm a huge fan of magnesium ever since it cured my long term chronic headaches. Been on it for over 2 years now.
It has a lot of other benefits too, as it's vital for cell functioning.
One of the problems with it though is that high doses can irritate the gut, so you have to back off if you notice that. I get loose bowels if I take a bit much, so it's hard to maximise my dose. I drink it in water.

I have just changed to a different type of magnesium. It is a much smaller molecule, with a positive charge.(Doesn't mean anything to me, either.)
You put about 5ml under the tongue twice a day, and that's it.
Being smaller, it is absorbed much faster, and doesn't have to work its way through the gut or other bits.

You can read about it here.

Thanks for the additional info. Peter!

Over the moon is the truth! I am in heaven! I am ecstatic!

I can't encourage others enough to give it a try. I know that one of the side effects is loose stool's, but I take opiates for my TOS pain, so that side effect is actually a bonus for me! :winky:

So glad to know it's helping you too!

Maddy
