Lancet Paper by members of this Forum....
|
and great achievement...
Just wanted to say that is is a ground breaking achievement for a patient group to be published in the Lancet. I know how much work has gone into the whole issue of sham procedures in PD surgery over the years. I believe that this article is a direct response the results of the Sham surgery conference in which patient views were, unusually, admitted to the discussion. Both event represent the significantly high level of debate and discussion within the PD community.
That most if not all have been active members of this forum is an indicator that patient participation is starting to move in the right direction, and something to celebrate. This year has seen the loss of several of our active 'voices'. Paula Wittekind who is one of the authors of this piece is sadly not here to see its publication. Many thanks to all those who put so much effort into advocacy at all levels. |
Correction -
Paula IS here, and her voice will be heard for many years.
Hugs, Peg Missing her will be hard, my friend But all good things must come to an end. But one thing they can never do, Is take away memories - from me - from you. Peg Nov.2012 |

Yes and no
This is one of those journals where you must register to gain access.
You can read the original article to which our reply was directed here: http://www.thelancet.com/journals/la...064-9/fulltext Full text for the above is available. Our reply, however, allows one to see the introduction, then requires $$$ in order to see the article in its entirety . Click here: http://www.thelancet.com/journals/la...277-6/fulltext There are some other good publications credited to people from this forum who have been strong advocates. Perry Cohen has been the first author in many of these, so do a search using his name for more. Thanks for your interest Peg |
This is so cool! What an incredible and timely legacy for Paula... Thank you to all of the authors for your advocacy!
