Vit D level
what should a normal vit d level be? I am 62 yr female . thanks
|
The new recommended level is 50. But many doctors are not pushing people, beyond 30 still. My doctor wants me at 70...which I can't seem to attain. I remain in the high 40's.
Doctors are still giving the inferior D2 RX too. It will be a long time before everyone is on the same page IMO. VitaminD council online is a good resource to read. |
[ also are tanning beds a source for vit d
|
As people age, the conversion of UV in the skin changes and may lessen. People taking cholesterol lowering drugs may also not
convert well, because the molecule is cholesterol based and be hampered by the statin drugs. |
well that knocks me out ... cant catch a break... ..

Personally, I'm sticking to supplements. It would seem testing may not always be accurate either. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0625152310.htm Doc |
Not another problem....sheeesh...
Quest had a terrible problem for over a year a few years ago, and reported all Vit D tests erroneously. They apologized publicly. Thanks for that link...I'll put it up on the Vit D thread on Vitamin forum here. We should get refunds for those tests, IMO... but of course medical errors never get refunded or any savings passed on to the poor patient! |
