PCS and blood protein levels
Hi,
Just posing a quick question out there. I am 2 weeks away from the 1 year mark and doing much better. Returned to work on reduced hours and can function pretty well but not completely symptom free, I can still get overwhelmed in crowds or busy shopping locations. I recently had some blood tests done and twice my protein count was slightly elevated above the accepted normal range which actually increased slightly in the last 2 months from last test. (I have no previous tests in the last couple of years as a comparison). Out of curiousity I did some digging around and came across this link: http://www.icsspe.org/content/blood-...cussion-damage Basically using the protein levels in blood work as a test to determin the amount of damage following a concussion. Anyone experience the same thing? |
The article does not describe the protein. The S-100b protein has been studied years ago. It is an indicator but it sounds like the test is expensive because I only see it mentioned in research situations, not in treatment modalities. There are also tests for Tau protein that can indicate a problem.
The background link does not work so no background information is available. The kidneys filter out protein and protein metabolites. They can become over-whelmed by too much protein. |
This link explains which proteins are involved... two specific ones.
