concussions
I am 44 yrs old and was a motocross racer for over 20 years, during those years I was knocked unconscious 6 times and had 3 concussions in a 2 month span resulting in missing*one turn on the way to work everyday and generally just being different so I am told.
I have been doing well until lately, leaving the wood stove door open, leaving vehicles run all night, and simple things. I have not been to a doctor but know I have to. Nothing has happened to bring this on that I can think of. I have ridden a bicycle, done triathlons ate well and felt great. has anyone experienced this,? Does it usually get worse? |
christopher,
Welcome to NeuroTalk. It sounds like you may be hitting the 40's age where your past sneaks up and tries to kick your butt. It will help if you try to learn the triggers that cause you to have a bad day. Many of us know we need to live life slower and with brain nutrition in mind. There is not much a doctor can do except confirm your symptoms. I just learned of another ex-motorcross racer who at 42 is hitting the same wall. Besides eating well, you will benefit from nutritional supplements. I have my regimen posted. My best to you. |
IMO it will not get worse if you learn to manage your symptoms. Yes I have short term memory issues similar to yours. You will need to be more careful with what you do. Slowing down will help as some have processing issues. If your body is going faster than your brain then tasks can be dropped and you will not be aware it is happening.

Yes-by all means go to a doctor! A good neurologist. I think you need to get a diagnosis, rule out the possibility that your symptoms are something other than a concussion. It may be the PT or OT or some other therapy can help you.
