Hi, Bizi,

This one causes me difficulty:
Quote:

2. Affected by emotions of others
I often have to shield myself from what is going on around me -- including t.v. and shopping malls, theaters, restaurants, --- I avoid all of those.

This is true:
Quote:

Need lots of space and time to ourselves
This is exactly what I do. I leave a meeting if I have to and completely skip a meeting if I can. I like being inside my home. Sometimes being around nature (under a tree, near water, . . . ) is also helpful.

Thanks Bizi.

I have always been really affected by others' emotions/mood.... I keep trying to deal with it, like, if they are in a bad mood, I have to ignore them... but I cant... Im better these days than I used to be... but still....

Yes, Blue,

You are on the right track. You can ignore them.

There are other techniques too. Here is one:

Quote:

Accept the fact that this person is angry with you, regardless of if it's true or not, let them vent, stand back, don't get in their way. Show them you actually listen to what they say. This may already be part of the solution. Normally people will calm down if they see you have a sincere interest in what they say. Communication is the keyword.
Here is another:

Quote:

#2 Think about something else. What you think about you give power to. The more you dwell on a subject the larger you make it. That's just the way things work. If you would like less of that person in your life. Don't spend your time talking about how you dislike them, because you are only enlarging them in your sphere of operation.
What you should do, on the other hand, is to find something or someone else to talk about that is more positive and you will find that the negative influence will become less overwhelming to you
