Can't Deal With My PCS Anymore.

Hi guys. I really need to vent. If you haven't read my story, basically I got a double-concussion on April 22, 2012. I have been obviously dealing with PCS ever since. I can't think. I can't do things that everyone else can do. I am 16 years old and I am being treated like a child everyday. I am recieving all these treatments (Vestibular rehab, Cognitive Therapy etc). Basically I guess you could say that I am very scared for my future. How can someone who was virtually normal turn into someone who can't put a sentence together? It's not fair. Everyday I have a headache for most of my day. Nobody should have to go through this. I am waiting for my MRI results from Wednesday, but from what I've read on NT, it doesn't look like they are going to show anything. But for some reason I feel they will. I don't know. Sometimes I just don't want to be here anymore and I don't want to live through this pain. I am scared to talk to somebody about it because I know they will tell me to go to a shrink or something. I can't go to another doctor, I physically, emotionally, mentally just can't do it. I am so drained. Thanks for letting me vent guys. Any advice?

Hello, aliciaj,

I have not "the memory" to retain the knowledge from your earlier posts; thus I need to go back to re-read same. Meanwhile I simply wanted to say, " I hear ya, Darlin !" --- and to say that I will indeed go back to re-read your previous posts --- and meanwhile, to appeal to you, your sense of reasonableness, to *please* be patient with yourself, your journey back-unto-yourself. Please do not yet despair, give up hope, for your recovery.

You are *young* and that is a *big positive* on your side for your recovery. Do not despair, give up hope. You *will* yet get to be better!

Sincerely,

Theta Z.

aliciaj,

I understand your frustration. What are all the treatments you are receiving and how often do you get treatment?

Are you attending school?

Have you ever been given a chance for true quiet rest? Proper quiet rest should give you some freedom from head aches.

Concussion clinics often look at patients as a source of revenue even when their treatments are not making things better. They may try to measure your progress and notice slight improvements so they continue the treatments when discontinuing the treatments may cause better improvement.

I forget if you ever told us where you live, state or city so we can possibly direct you to somebody with a history of benefiting PCS patients.

Have you tried to get a copy of Dr Cantu's book Concussions and Our Kids? It is a worthwhile book to read, especially for your parents to read.

Are you struggling with balance and dizziness?

Cognitive rehab should be held back until you have been head ache free for some time. It can cause head aches.

Are your parents anxious about helping you or seeing you recover, too?

Are you taking any meds?

How about nutritional supplements?

We are here for you. Feel free to vent and let us know how we can help.

My best to you.
