Atypical TN and Cymbalta

After having a horrible experience with Lyrica, for a variety of complicated reasons, my doctor is now going to try Cymbalta for my atypical TN pain.

Has anyone ever had nerve pain help from this med? Has anyone taken this med (for any reason) and exp. difficult side effects? What were they?

HELP!

Thank you.

Blessings.

The Neurologist I was seeing about a year ago placed me on Cymbalta. It didn't seem to help and only damaged me. I ended quitting the med when I bled profusely from my rectum. I will never touch this med again.

I have been on Cymbalta for 3years prior to being diagnosed with TN. I have quite a few other health issues but was put on cymbalta mainly for anxiet. The only side effect that I had when I started it was that it would keep me awake so I make sure I take it in the morning. My sister has the opposite it makes her tired so she take it at night. This is a drug that take 3-6 weeks before you will get optimal results. I have not heard of it being used to treat TN. I can not tolerate any of the antiseizure meds so I am consdering other options like the balloon compression. Good luck Hope you get some relief

For me nortriptyline helps the most with the atypical pain, but I'm at 125mg/day and it maxes out at 150mg so I don't know what I'm going to do when it fades in effectiveness. At times it worked amazingly well, and much better than gabapentin 2400mg/day.

I just started cymbalta 30mg/day and have been taking oxcarbazapine 450mg 2x per day with the nortriptyline and also percocet before bed.

Nothing ever gets rid of it, just takes the extreme pain down a notch....I think I feel better with the cymbalta, happier, but still constant pain every moment.
