I`m just cheap!
LOL, or call it a thoughtful spender? :D
I am lucky, one of the largest flea markets in the area is a mile from the house. Although I can no longer walk around it my kids still go there at times. They can really be a good place at times to pick up gently used medical equipment that you may need now or in the future. I have 3 quad canes, all bought at the local flea market for 5 bucks each, I keep one at my side, one in the van, and one in the barn in case I wander out there with my scooter. 3 walkers, all bought for less than 10 bucks at the local flea market. I just bought a like new folding wheelchair off of Craigslist for 100 bucks, in case I go somewhere and the scooter traveling with me is not an option. Again, I am lucky, my young adult kids still live at home, and they are aware of my limitations. With modern technology if they are out somewhere and see something I may need they will snap a picture on their cells phones and send me a message if they think I may be interested in an item, or if I see something on Craig`s list and send them to check it out. Just throwing out ideas? |
I think I love your kids. You are lucky.:)

There is a drop off area at our local refuse dump where things that are in good condition can be donated and picked up by those who need them. I've left clothes and household items there and have picked up some things there for myself and others as well. When there is no longer a use for them, they are returned to the drop off. I've seen wheel chairs, crutches, other medical supplies, computers, furniture, exercise equipment etc sitting there waiting to be put to use.
It is a really good service as many people resist going to second hand stores, swap meets or asking for charity. At the drop off center, no one asks any questions and the staff just keep things in order. With love, Erika |
I like that Erika

I've found that as I get older my spending habits change. Could be just because I'm now on a fixed income and know that there isn't going to be any extra.
I've noticed that I now "sit" on things.....wait a day or two before actually buying something.......unless it's just desperately needed. Most things I can do without. Since I buy online I just put it in my shopping cart and let it sit for a day or so and 9 times out of 10 I end up deleting it! ;) |
