Come On I Know That There Are Lots Of Us Out There!!!

Hey all you alcoholics and drug addicts......hopefully clean and sober....there are countless amounts of us and I personally would love it if this site would pick up. I love my A.A. meetings and will be 7 years sober on July30/07. I spoke tonight at an open meeting at my home group, The Miami Beach Group, Keswick, Ont. Canada. I was so nervous as I had not spoke in a year or so but I feel so good about it. Many people approached me after the meeting and said that I gave a powerful message and that ciould relate totally...I feel so good. We can really help each other on here as well but we need people to post....Come on...You may just help someone in need...and surely it will help you to help those in need...Thats what its all about:welcome_sign: :grouphug:

 i am very proud of you dorrie for taking the courage to post here. i hope others follow. your story is so encouraging dorrie. thank you for posting.

i come from a family of alcoholics. my mothers side. i very very rarely drink. never outside the house. hubby and will have a glass of wine on a special occasion. he is a super duper light-weight. that one glas...mr bodybuilder..he is tipsy. :)

i remember all to well my uncles drinkig at family gatherings and then driving them and their kids home. nobody would stop them. same thing with my X's family. i vowed to never do that to my kids.

i do have to admit..i'm too frugal to pay the high price for a drink if we go out to eat.

It is wonderful that you have decided not to let your kids live the life that you have seen, Curious. Thanks for all your posts, they mean alot to me. The support I find here is amazing! Have a super day!!!

Hi Dorrie
I fought a very hard battle with alcohol when I was younger and, thanks be to God Alone  , I was victorious and did not become another family statistic.
Thankfully both my parents and my brother managed the same.

But we do have other casualties on both sides of my family, and so I have made a very big issue of alcohol 101 for my sons, who both clearly understand the genetics and the potential danger they would face from it. Thankfully, they both seem to have taken it very seriously (they are now 17 and 20 yo, with the oldest in his jnr year at college, far away from home.....so I am truly thankful to see them avoiding what could be a potential death sentence in their lives:) )

Congrats on your sobriety and that you are a positive influence on so many others
