Ive been having flashy vision for 10 months and am starting to really get worried.
I heard around the 1 year mark is when symptoms may be permanent. nothing is more annoying then my flashing vision with sensitivity to light its a constant issue and its been going on for 10 months
heres where im worried. 2 months after getting my initial concussion the flashy vision started to go away or die down but i reaggravated my concussion real bad and the flashy vision came back and shows no signs of going away no amount of sleep and rest seems to cure it. do you think my brain is now on a different wave length and it will be like this forever because its not gonna switch back to the way it was and this is how it will stay ive went to 2 optometrist , a nuero ophthalmologist and a neurologist and they all say they have no idea why im getting flashes. its starting to ruin me and if its permanent i dont want to deal with it anymore who knows what will happen come my 1 year in |
can you describde...

When i look up at the sky on a clear day i see a million little stars in my vision that move fast in a circular motion |
I see flashes too, like somebody is taking a photo of me.
Re the millions of little swirly stars - isn't that normal? I have that all the time on a bright day. |
Dear Claritan,
I wonder if you need to go back to basics. When you first had yr accident you would have needed to rest which gives the body time to heal and for the brain to catch up. The brain seems to not be able to manage sight, sound and responses very well without rest, but most especially after trauma. I would say you maybe have started to take your brain for granted. Those of us with TBI must recognize symptoms of it and act upon such. If specialists cannot give you a reason, maybe the reason is simple - you need to shut your eyes again, no computers, tv, loud noises etc you know the drill. |

i think what screwed me and what has taken me awhile to recover is me going back to work at feeling literally 50% and like crap. i had to go back i needed the money and figured it wouldnt be bad since my concussion i havent given myself other than the weekends a really long time to rest do you think im doing more harm? i work construction and usually get laid off from January to March so im hoping to hold out until January and get major rest then |
Dear Claritan,
I know what the construction industry is like, there is no such thing as a quiet easy day. See what others say about your vision. If you are not getting any other worrying symptoms at the moment then I would push thru to January. On the weekends try and set yourself a few hrs where you can be alone in quiet rest. |
Hi Clara, I've got exactly the same thing of flashy flickers in peripheral vision especially when I am concentrating on something. My neurologist said take vitamin B2 400mg a day and that kinda helps but I'm not really sure. Just wondering if you have found anything that has helped you on this problem? If so please give me a shout!

I'm not sure claritan is still active on the forum, this is an 2012 thread.
